It is with deep sadness that we mourn the passing of our dear friend, colleague, and beloved Michigan CLASS Board Member, Catherine McClary. Catherine dedicated her life to public service, working faithfully for the people of Washtenaw County, Michigan, for over 40 years.
Catherine began her career in 1974 as the youngest-ever county commissioner for Washtenaw County at 22. In 1997, Mrs. McClary was elected County Treasurer, and for the past 27 years, she has contributed not only to innovations and improvements in county government but also taken on the role of advocate, champion, teacher, and resource for many.
“As a long-time participant of Michigan CLASS, I want to offer my expertise and experience to the Board of Trustees to help maintain, protect, and supervise the investment of the public funds entrusted to Michigan CLASS. I am committed to fulfilling the requirements of participation on the Board. I will promote safe, liquid, competitive investments for public funds in Michigan.” – Catherine McClary.
We are grateful for her many contributions to Michigan public entities and appreciate the many years of service she provided to the Michigan CLASS Board of Trustees. As an advocate for Michigan public agencies statewide, her dedication and commitment to the Michigan CLASS program were unparalleled. Through her leadership, she made invaluable contributions that undoubtedly impacted the program’s success and growth.
Though saddened by her loss, we take comfort in celebrating Catherine’s remarkable life and legacy. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on through the positive impact she made.
